hello, march

As we start the March Slice of Life 2022, I decided to take a peek back at my slices from last year.

Oh, how they made me smile. And yet, how they made me sad, too. It’s funny how writing and rereading can do that.

So much as changed since March of 2021. To name a few:

  1. I moved home to Wisconsin after living in Minnesota for six years.
  2. I got a new job, as 5th Grade Reading and Writing Teacher at an Intermediate School.
  3. I got my own apartment and am living alone for the first time in my life.
  4. I turned 25, which has felt big for some reason.

There are so many things to write about lately, I struggle to keep up with them. I find that I am constantly starting new pages in my notebooks and leaving half of them blank, filling out index cards with snippets of my days at school, adding to my ongoing Google Docs of writing, typing in my “Notes” app. On top of this, I am writing with and for my students at school – for lessons, for grade reports, responding to their notes, etc.

I know that I am missing things, and I hate that.

As I reflect as objectively as possible, I notice that the thread I’ve been tracking the most in my writing recently, is teaching. Which seems all too cliché and simple at the same time.

But, it’s true. And I can’t ignore what’s true. My intuition will not allow it.

My goal will be to use that as a type of parameter for my writing, although, I don’t know how successful I’ll be.

I’m also going to embark on doing the March Slice of Life with my students this year, so that should be an adventure.

But, what’s life without adventures?

I guess this will serve as my first post this year.

Hi, hello, welcome, welcome back, and

love always, caitlin 🙂

  1. I’m so glad you decided to embark on this journey of sharing your writing a second year, Caitlin! I can’t wait to follow your days through your eyes.

About all those snippets of moments you have all over the place. . . get some washi tape and tape those notecards into your journal. If they are scribbled with front and back, just tape one side and make little doors to open and close. They fill up all those blank pages! :-))
