ncaa march madness

NCAA March Madness has me in my basketball “feels”.

This time of the year always makes me miss basketball the most.

There is much to discuss this year surrounding March Madness.

Tonight, I am going to keep it short and simple.

Take a look at the picture below.

The top half is a picture of the weight room provided by the NCAA for the men in the March Madness bubble in Indianapolis. The bottom half is a picture of the “weight room” provided by the NCAA for the women in the March Madness bubble in San Antonio.

*This is a picture I got from social media that was going somewhat viral. Although I think it is true, there is always a chance it is not, because as we know, the Internet is not always right and it could be out there simply to cause a reaction.*

When I say that I laughed and laughed out loud at seeing this, you might underestimate the scene that occurred.

Truly, I have no words.

Actually, yes I do. In my head, I have pictured the conversation this way:

“Shoot, what about a weight room? What are we going to do about that?”

“Ah, don’t worry, I got it. I’ll just stop by Target quick – not a big deal.”

Then, they proceeded to set this little number up and call it good.

There are a lot more words I have for this, but they will all make me look cynical and angry, when in reality, I’m not. This is something I have been dealing with since I can remember.

When I was in fifth grade, the recess aides “banned” the girls from playing football with the boys. My grade had always played various sports together on the playground. Always. And, they just randomly decided against it. They said things like, “Girls don’t play football” and “My dad would’ve never let me do that when I was your age.”

I got in the car after school that day and cried my eyes out. It did not make sense to me why they would do what they did. Why couldn’t girls do anything boys could do? My parents told me they could.

What message does this send?

love always, caitlin
